Royal Jelly Supplement Review on Usage, Dosage, Side Effects, Benefits

18/11/2018

Royal Jelly Supplement
Royal jelly is a thick white or cream-colored substance with a particular smell and sour-sweet taste.

We call royal jelly also the dietary supplement whose composition contains bee secretion in the highest percentage of active substances. Royal jelly has a high biological value and has a rich and colorful nutritional composition.

Royal jelly is a finished functional food. It is composed of a set of 18 amino acids in the structures of tens of proteins, some of which are physiologically active enzymes, and also carbohydrates, lipids, vitamins (B1, B2, B5, B6, B9, B12, C, H, PP), minerals and others.

What Is Royal Jelly?

Royal jelly is a thick white or cream-colored substance with a particular smell and sour-sweet taste. This is a product that bees secrete to feed the young worker bees, drones, and the queen bee.

Royal jelly has a high biological value and has a rich and colorful nutritional composition. The jelly can be regular and uterine. The second type is with more dense concentration and contains more active substances.

It is used to feed the queen bee and to keep its metabolism active. We call royal jelly also the dietary supplement whose composition contains bee secretion in the highest percentage of active substances.

What Do We Need to Know About the Active Ingredients of Royal Jelly?

Royal jelly is a finished functional food. It is composed of a set of 18 amino acids in the structures of tens of proteins, some of which are physiologically active enzymes, and also carbohydrates, lipids, vitamins (B1, B2, B5, B6, B9, B12, C, H, PP), minerals and others.

Some active ingredients (peptides, proteins, sterols, and others) are poorly or only partially studied.

Purpose and Health Benefits of Royal Jelly

In traditional, holistic and Eastern medicine royal jelly is very trusted because it  has some beneficial effects on the human body:

  • it improves the metabolism;
  • it reduces the cholesterol;
  • it improves the appetite;
  • it increases the immune resistant forces of the body;
  • it improves the hemopoiesis
  • it stimulates the functions of the endocrine glands;
  • it has antibiotic and antiviral properties;
  • it slows the aging and more.

Unfortunately, until the today Western medicine has been able to confirm scientifically only a fraction of the traditional views on the effects of royal jelly.

It is believed that the significant difference in the effects on the cell cultures and those for oral intake are due to the destructive impacts of the digestive enzymes and high acidity on the royal jelly in the grinding process.

Proven Benefits From the Intake of Royal Jelly:

  • It has an anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory effect in Graves' disease;
  • It stimulates the growth of neurons (type cells with nourishing functions that sustain the life and health of nerve cells in the human body);
  • It stimulates the growth of renowned stem cells (basic cells that can divide and can turn into a broad group of cells by a signal from the body).

Are There Side Effects and Contraindications for the Intake of Royal Jelly?

There are lots of cases of allergic reactions with the intake of royal jelly.

If you are allergic to pollens, pollen from flowers, in particular, be very careful with your first intake of this bee secretion.

Statistics show cases of asthma attacks, allergic crises and even deaths due to use of bee products by people with a bee allergy.

What Shouldn't We Combine Royal Jelly With?

No found drug interactions.

Necessary Doses and Way of Intake

There are no clinical studies on the average daily dose.

The recommended dose for manufacturers varies according to the form of the product, i.e. whether we talk about gel, freeze-dried powder or royal jelly in liquid form.

The recommended doses of the freeze-dried powder are usually between 300 mcg and 1000 mcg (micrograms).

In Which Sports and Health Supplements Can We Find Royal Jelly?

Royal jelly can be found on its own, in combination with adjuvants like ginseng by an eastern recipe, in anti-aging supplements with substances like Ginkgo biloba.

You can see it in multivitamin-multimineral formulas and also in the composition of combined bee products.

In cosmetics, royal jelly is added to hair and skin products.
