Phosphatidylserine is a substance from the phospholipids group. As a major component of the cell membrane, it is important for the metabolic processes and the functionality of the membranes and cells in general.

​Many studies have shown that phosphatidylserine functions as brain stimulant with similar action as phosphatidylcholine.

There is a number of evidence that it lowers cortisol levels after training sessions, supporting rapid muscle recovery in the post-training period.  It also assists the recovery of muscle strain.

​​Phosphatidylserine - serine is essential for every athlete and every individual who wants quality synchronization in their body, on a cell level. It is popular among bodybuilders, fitness athletes and professional athletes from other sports because it lowers cortisol levels up to 30%.​

Being also a brain stimulator makes it extremely useful for athletes engaged in sports, which need concentration, relatively high rate of reaction, the ability to copy movements and combinativeness.​

What Is Phosphatidylserine (PS)?

Phosphatidylserine is a substance from the phospholipids group. 

​As a major component of the cell membrane, it is important for the metabolic processes and the functionality of the membranes and cells in general.

Primary Physiological Effect:

​Many studies have shown that phosphatidylserine functions as brain stimulant with similar action as phosphatidylcholine.

There is a number of evidence that it lowers cortisol levels after training sessions, supporting rapid muscle recovery in the post-training period. It also assists the recovery of muscle strain.

​Optimal Dosage:

​The recommended dose for fitness enthusiasts is 100 mg, two to three times daily or 300 mg per day. After reaching the maximum effect, the dose may be reduced to 100 mg daily, without loss of the therapeutic effect.
 
Athletes who want to lower the cortisol in their blood in the post-workout period should take phosphatidylserine in doses between 400 and 800 mg daily.

​There is an evidence of athletes who took over 800 mg daily, without any side effects. 
No evidence of the effectiveness of doses in such quantities.

​Possible Side Effects When Taking Phosphatidylserine:

​The most serious harm, that can phosphatidylserine-serine cause, is a digestive tract disorder (diarrhea).

The combination with blood-thinning drugs or supplements may cause increased risk of problems of different nature.

Be careful if you are taking phosphatidylserine with aspirin, ginkgo biloba, garlic extract, ticlopidine, pentoxifylline, clopidogrel or other substances with blood-thinning functions, marked on their leaflets.

Since then, the major source of phosphatidylserine is cabbage, soybeans, seaweed, and yeasts. Structurally, phosphatidylserine from animals is very similar to that obtained from vegetable sources.
